KIRRIS RIVIEREFrom an early age I have always been driven by the goal to achieve as much as I possibly could, during that same time my granddaddy was a huge influence in my life. He was obsessed with the blues coming from the Caribbean he was soaked in Calypso, Mento, Blues and Reggae.
I have been singing in various blues bands since the age of 20 building my confidence, listening and exploring different styles of blues whilst finding my own voice and style. I am now at the grand old age of 35 and have been running my own blues band projects for the last 6 years with my biggest achievement to date performing at the legendry Glastonbury Music Festival last year and being asked to sing again this year. As a singer all thoughts and emotions have to be portrayed, I live and breathe the blues and always feel my childhood links when I sing it. Some of my main influences so far have been Muddy Waters, Albert King, BB King and Buddy Guy to name just a few! The dream is to make a living as a Blues Artist and to be able to contribute to having the blues listened to by modern ears so the next generation can keep it alive and growing. JOHNNY MAGGBorn and raised in Marion,Ind I fell in love with music around the age of five and have been singing since then. I started playing the saxophone in the seventh grade. While in the Army, and stationed in Germany, I joined a band called Mellow Maddness, where I sang and played in the horn section.
After returning to the states, I went to Detroit College of Business receiving my bachelor's degree, but all along trying to bring out the music inside of me. Accepting Jesus at the age of ten, I have always enjoyed gospel music and tried to write gospel music in the traditional way. But as I got, and get closer to God, he lets me know that it is ok to praise, worship, and give him all the glory through the music and words that he puts on my heart. Every note, and every lyric on this CD is from God, he just used me because it's MY TIME. I love the Lord, or more importantly he loves me, because without him this CD would not have been possible". THEODIS EALEY
Music has always been a part of his life. Growing up, Theodis says this life-long love affair with music began when he lived on Highway 61 on the other side of the road from Miss Willie Mae's Juke Joint.
"I would just sit on the steps and listen to the sounds coming from there", the heart and soul of the Blues. Since leaving Mississippi, Theodis always carried the "Mississippi Juke Joint Spirit" with him through his music. As one of 11 children in his family, Theodis wanted to travel the world and the U.S. Air Force provided the opportunity. During his military tour of service, Theodis was stationed in Hawaii for 6 years and then moved to Oakland, California before making Atlanta, Georgia his permanent home. Still holding strong to his Mississippi roots, Theodis played guitar with such notable artists as Little Milton, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Richard "Dimples" Fields, the Blues Brothers and the 'legendary' Charles Brown. This musical journey enabled Theodis to generate a personal style based upon his love of diverse music -- blues, country, soul and rock Contact THEODIS EALEY [email protected] |
MRK2Rhythm and Blues, Soul and Pop is the way MRK2 describes his musical tastes, growing up in the UK his spare time was spent looking for imports from America from the likes of Al Jarreau, Hall & Oates, Robert Cray etc.
It was more of a way of life than a hobby! The hours spent trawling the record shops has now been replaced by hours on the internet but the search is still for the same type of music, as he says 'Musically you could say I've never grown up, soul is in my blood!' Now he writes his own brand of the music he loves the likes of 'Momma!' is a prime example 'got a kind of retro vibe', Blackstreet springs to mind!
